Blessed Beyond Measure with Muse

I’m totally in love with S1609 Blessed Beyond Measure, the September Stamp Of The Month (SOM).  I’m created dozens of cards with it as well as layouts.  Here’s a card that is a mixed inspiration from one of my friend Karen Pederson’s creations and the Muse Challenge.

Here’s the Muse Challenge:

My pumpkin is cut out of the Cricut using the Art Philosophy Cartridge (retired now but I have two left).  I stamped him in Tangerine which is a wonderful new color.  It’s very rich and vibrant.  It’s also one of the colors available in our new ink pad design (magnetic lids need I say more).  I then colored over the top of it with our watercolor pencils to get the shading.  The stem is done with  Smooch from Clearsnap.  Instead of going over the top with a watercolor brush I used the Shimmer Brush!

Close To My Heart now our own version of Wink of Stella called “Shimmer Brush”.  I’m beyond estatic about this because I go through Clear Wink enough that I was buying it by the case!

There are two great things about our Shimmer Brush.  First, the size if it.  It’s it larger than Wink of Stella which means you have more shimmer!  Is there every enough shimmer?  I think not.  Next is the price point compared to Wink Of Stella.    Wink of Stella is $6.49 on to  $6.99 on Simon Says Stamps (one of my favorite online stores)and $7.88 on Amazon.  CTMH Shimmer Brush is $4.95, which is a fantastic price point for more product!  Don’t miss out on this deal.

I used our “Hello and Thanks” Thin Cut dies to create the “Thanks” cut out in black cardstock.

You can also see that I used some Silver Silk which I got from Fun Stampers Journey to create the splatter background.  Black Shimmer Trim added on the edge of the background and texture paper from Jeepers Creepers (my featured Paper Kit of the month).   Before putting on the pumpkin, I stamped the leaves and outline of the berries in Willow and Chocolate inks.  Then I stamped the berries in Raspberry ink.  I put Liquid Glass over the berries to make them stand out.  Then I put the pumpkin down with 3D foam tape.    I love the way it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my creations and  corner of the internet.  I hope you are inspired to create as I was from Muse challenge and my friend’s artwork.  Have a blessed day!

Creating Session!!

I’m working on getting some new samples done for the upcoming Open House in August so I had a creative session to get something done!   Bless the sketches and challenges. I’m so appreciative and glad of those who create these challenges for us.

The first challenge is from Mojo Monday 457. I used a pumpkin instead of a square for the sketch.

You Are My Sunshine S1603

I really like the sentiment “You Are My Sunshine” the March SOM S1603.  I say this to my daughter all the time so I created this card using a sketch challenge from last month.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3 wm

I will give her this card, just as a “I’m thinking of you” card. This card was created following the post of the MM435 sketch back in February.

Mojo435I originally made the card like this:

mm435 MarSOM Card 3c wm

Then decided I did not like the way the background papers look so I recreated to be the first card. Better, huh?  Stamp the images in Memento Black Ink.  I did the coloring of the suns and butterflies with a watercolor technique. I used the top of my ink pad by pushing down on the cover of the lid a few times. Ink gets on the top of the lid. When you open it, you can see it. Using a watercolor brush, you add water to the ink and paint with it.  I used Thistle and Pixie on the butterfly.  I used Canary and Sunset on the sun.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3a wm

I fussy cut out the butterflies.  I used a gel clear glitter pen to add some subtle shimmer to the the words and to trace over the black outlines.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3b wm

This is a great card for anyone who is a sunshine in your life.  I think we’ll use it for the Come and Play Card Buffet.  Thanks for stopping by.

SSS Wednesday Challenge One Layer

It’s been ages since I made a one layer card so this is a good challenge from Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge.  When was the last time I created a one layer card, LOL?   I created this card:

SSS Wed 1 Layer Card

The challenge was a one layer so I took some painters tape and gently put it down so it would come off without ripping the paper. Doing this was inspired by two of the samples (Heather and Jenn’s) posted on the SSS Wednesday blog,    I took some Tim Holtz distressing inks, sponges, and created the ombre background.

Masking pic wm

Using black Memento ink, I used the super cute stamp set CTMH has designed for the raising money($7.00 of every set purchased, is donated to Operation Smile) this month for Operation Smile “Sharing the Love” CC1060, to stamp the camera, dialog box, and a sentiment.

I stamped them over the background, working diagonally across the card, opposite of the background diagonal. The camera is centered.

SSS wed 1 layer c wm

I used one of my favorite embellishments, Purple Enameled and Glitter Heart Duos, taking one of the glitter hearts to add a little bling to the heart on the camera.

SSS wed challenge d wm

I had a blank corner (not necessarily a bad thing but it was not looking balanced to me) so I added the sentiment in the corner:

SSS Wed 1 Layer b

This was a fun card to do and reminds me that simple, as in one layer,  is often best and it looks great!  Thanks for stopping by!

Trying something new with RS198

I was working on some lunch box cards for my daughter and saw the RS#198 sketch so I thought I’d try something new with one of the dies and the sketch. Here’s what I made:

RS198 wm

Here’s the sketch:

Some fun points. My frame is a partial peek-through – the border shows the background but in the center I put a sentiment and popped up the cookie:

RS198 awm

I used watercolor paints and “brush flicking” to create the background on the card. The space was too much plain. Adding the splatter balanced out the card for my eye. I love the look – more solid than using Glimmer Mist or Spray pens.

Thanks to Retro Sketches for a great sketch where encouraged me to try something new!  Stamp set and dies are from Simon Says Stamp.   Thanks for stopping by my space in the internet world!.

FMS Final 214-001I check out Simon Says Stamps, both their Monday and Wednesday Challenges.   Monday’s challenge is “Thank/Thanksgiving“.  This is also one of the Heart 2 Heart Challenges Give Thanks.  It actually works in the Heart to Heart Watercolor challenge too.  I was totally enamored with Andrea’s watercolor technique and samples (Her blog: Snapping Monsters) and created these two cards (along with about 10 others).  I had so much fun and now have very inky fingers!

Looking through the Window

Looking through the window and seeing a harvest moon is one of my favorite things to see.  Creating backgrounds is fun and I used a Cricut cut to make this window and make it look like you were looking outside.  The weather is definitely turning here and fall is in full swing.  I wanted to capture the “harvest moon” and did so through masking and sponging.  Autumn Harvest wmI sanded everything down with our sand paper from the sanding kit wrapped around one of the acrylix blocks for stamping (another use for your blocks).  That created the distressed or “old” look to all the papers.

AH 1 wm

Stamp the fruit in different colors using Poppy, Saffron, Pomegranate, and Eggplant (love the new colors) along with Fern for the leaves.  Add some Wink of Stella on the moon for the glow = perfect!

Autum Harvest Collage

This card works for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge “Through the Windows“!  Exciting when I can share something I love to do!
