A Star for you and New Years Eve

Here’s my last Christmas card made with a very simple star stamp set!

FMS 214 card (1)

Here is the sketch I used to create the card:

FMS Final 214-001

I used this stamp set:

A1176 Christmas Star

I did a spray background and silhouette for the manger scene:

Sequins are an easy embellishment to add to cards and it makes the cards more “post office friendly”!  =)

The sentiment is taken from another stamp set I had  in my stash.  It’s New Year’s Eve – Have a fun and safe one!

A light for you

Created this simple for a friend who needed a little pick me up, to let her know that she’s a light in my life.

SOM Card 3 wm

The embossing folder adds some elegance to the card.  I stamped the candle and sentiment on a panel and used watercolor pencils to do the coloring.

These stamps are from the December SOM – Candlelight Garden:

Add a few sequins and it’s finished.

Christmas fun with Cut Above

We have these great Cut Above card kits which are designed for fast, easy cardmaking.  Everything is precut for you and minimal stamping (one stamp -sentiment).  Very easy and when you have a lot of cards to do, nice.

Ones I did:

I did some extra decorating by adding some matting behind the red glitter strip and the sentiment strip.  Then I added a lot of glitter gel aka Stickles all over the card.  I did one with gold stickles on the snowflakes when Jeff told me he did not like the darker gems on the snowflakes.  While doing these, I got this one in the mail from my upline:

CA naomi

Naomi used some red and clear glitter gems and embossed the sentiment in gold.  Looks awesome.  Even though the Cut Above line is predone for you, you can still personalize it so it’s different!  Thanks for stopping by!

Joy and Peace Card

This is a simple card  to communicate the Joy and Peace of the season. Which we should experience but we tend to drive ourselves nuts and don’t.  I love creating background and have several stamps in my stash, long retired or other companies.

Joy and Peace wm

I cut a circle and put it where the “moon” is and sponged the background.  I used Sapphire ink to do the sponging.  You create the depth by laying or going over one area until you get it as dark as you want it. I use the CTMH sponge and cut into at least 4-6 pieces so it’s a great value!

Following this, I stamped the trees with Archival Black ink, using first and second generation images to create the scene.  In hind sight and looking at this as I post it, I would have taken the moon mask when stamping the trees because they would have been in front of the moon, not behind it.

The sentiment captures the feeling I was trying to communicate with the scene.  Since the card was fairly simple, I did up the inside:

Thanks for stopping by.  Tomorrow is Christmas Eve.  May you have an occasion full of joy and peace with your family and friends!

A friend is one…another December SOM card

Here’s another December SOM S1512 Candlelight Garden card “A friend is one…”:

S1512 Card 2 wmI was inspired by the card sketch from Mojo Monday Sketch 427.  It’s not exact but has the “window pane” look.

Mojo427I used our watercolor pencils to color in the images.  I went over the coloring with a watercolor brush and water to blend it.   I find the watercolor pencils an easy option for people who want a watercolor look but not the mess!

3505You can get great shading and depth in color by layering.  If you need things to be lighter, use water and a paper towel to “lift” out the color.

Create the “water” by adding depth (darkness) of color around the edges of the jar, making strokes following the circular lines of the jar.  Go lighter towards the center.  Create the top of the water by defining a circle on top and coloring within that circle.

S1512 Card 2a wm

Finish off with the sentiment and the sequins. I added the sentiment on the side of the card for a different look (and honestly, where else was it going to fit??).   Neutral colored “gold” sequins have different shades of gold in the packet, giving you options.
