I started off Mojo Monday 414 (MM414) and Stamp Ink Paper 13 (SIP13) with one card in mind and ended up with another one! Funny how that works. I created this:
Can you believe this card started off with butterflies? LOL. Anyway here are the challenges:
I enjoy having both of these sites to offer challenges out each week. They definitely get me thinking and creating. I saw the stamp sets for CTMH’s Constant Campaign and thought “let’s use one of these”.So I created my backgrounds by randomly stamping different stamps from the set to create the “birthday” card feel. I distressed the edges with a sponge and the ink pad.
Did my layering. When looking at the pennant, decided it needed more character and distressed it with a sanding block.
Then I realized the butterfly look was out and thought let’s use watercolor to continue the more distressed, lighter look of the card. I contemplated getting out the watercolor paints and then decided to use a quick and easy method of doing water color.
You can get a few pieces of paper watercolored this way for backgrounds. It’s fast and easy. You can even do large, 12×12″ of paper for your layouts this way.
After my paper dried, I stamped my sentiment and created some faux stitching with my journal pen.
Love the soft look/background for the sentiment. Sets of the black ink and sentiment well. Be sure to check out September Giveaways at the $50.00 and $100 purchase levels!!
Very cool card, Linda! Love the layout, and thanks for sharing your watercolor technique. I’ve pinned it for future reference. Thanks for playing along with us this week at SIP!
Thanks Sandy! Less water will equal a darker color; More water will give you a more faded wash. Enjoy!
Love the colours you’ve used this week, and the Mojo sketch is also pretty cool. Thanks so much for joining us this week at Stamp Ink Paper. Carolyn xx
Thanks Carolyn!
