Taste of Summer Layout

My second Taste of Summer layout “Orange You Sweet” is from the Close to My Heart  “Make It From Your Heart – Vol 2”  How To books.  Our How To books are great for inspiration.

I took a variety of pictures featuring “Ginger”, our much beloved “Boonie Dog” from Guam.  She had been with our family for 15 years.  Such a hard loss for our family, particularly my husband, and especially for SG.  Creating this layout helped us take our favorite memories and preserve them for years to come.  Now looking at the layout, I’m going to back and cut out “Ginger” from the Cricut and put her name up on the left corner of the left page as part of the title.  I used the Taste of Summer papers and stamp set, the National Scrapbooking Special from Close to My Heart to create this layout.  It’s the 22nd of May and you have 9 more days to get this wonderful paper and stamp set before they are gone!

 

I used a few techniques with Liquid Glass covering the inside of the oranges.  I love that the Liquid Glass pulls some of the orange ink and creates the yellow look for the sections of the oranges.  With the Coral Reef sequins, I put a dab of pearl paints in the center to match the orange in the paper.

 

Have I shared how I like to cut things out?  I do but fussy cutting can take so long.  So I love any stamp set which works with the Circut!!  With the Taste of Summer Stamp set, Close to My Heart’s exclusive Artiste Cartridge is it!!

There is so much I like about how this turned out. I really like how the orange in the papers sets off the orange in Ginger’s coat.  The layers on the left side reflect the layers of our lives and how Ginger has been there from the beginning of our marriage.
