The Taste of Summer papers from Close to My Heart are just so bright and fun. I created this card for the Come and Play Card Buffet in May. The bright color and citrus elements truly say summer for me.

We created the front panel of the card (the background) by embossing the card with white embossing powders. Once this is set (a minute or two after you are done heating), you take sponge daubers and the Canary, Sunset, and Topiary ink pads to add the color. Once done, wipe it off the excess ink.

This makes the white embossed images “pop”. I love the look! Add bonus if you have kids or teach kids and do this in front of them, you are “magic”!! I cut the tags from the Cricut Artiste Collection and stamped them with the Taste of Summer Stamp Set (CC1039). Life is so much easier when you don’t have to fussy cut!

I stamped a few of the oranges with a “rock and roll” technique to get the different colors on the rind. Always go with your lighter color first. Then I put a thick coat of Liquid Glass on the oranges, just in the center. With some colors, Liquid Glass will “pull out the color so test your colors first to make sure it’s what you want. In this case, I wanted the color to pull out and add to the color of the center. Let them dry overnight.

I added some of the zip strips from the top of the paper to layer the pennant and added some lime green baker’s twine I found in the $1.00 bins at Target! Stamp a sentiment on the inside and add a few Liquid Glass limes!
