First step..

Hi everyone!

I’m over in Salt Lake City taking a great training/class on doing albums about ourselves.  I’m having to do the very uncomfortable part of writing about myself and documenting my life!  It was much hard than I thought it would be.  We had a guest speaker, Stacy Julian (Big Picture Classes).  We had heard Stacy speak at our National Convention last summer where she inspired me to start including myself into our scrapbooks.  I’m always taking pictures of everyone else and recording everyone’s else’s history, but not mine.
Well, this weekend, I went off to Salt Lake City to start creating a Legacy Album to start telling my story so SG will have it when I’m not longer able to be here with her.  Here’s the start of my story:

I got a great book from a friend when I first had SG – “A Mother’s Legacy”.  It’s a journal full of questions to answer about yourself.  You are suppose to complete the journal for your  kids.  I’m going to continue my album using this book as a prompt!!  I’m so excited to step outside my comfort zone and learn to do this.
More to come and classes too!!

Last Day for Whoo’s! Too Cute to Miss

Today is the last day for Whoo’s Your Valentine!  It’s a very, very cute set that is so versatile, I’m loving it.  If you are on Facebook, be sure to check out the Close To My Heart corporate page and see all of the very cool art work that is being made with it!!  Here’s my latest two:  One filled with Skittles and is the resist embossing and one filled with Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans….

Don’t miss out because you can do so much with this darling set!! Coffee stamp set is sold seperately.

Simply Irresistable!

I watched this great video on resist embossing by Monica and Kristine from the Close to My Heart Home Office and I was inspired to create.  Long ago, I learned a technique using resist embossing in a different way, using a craft mat and inks.

First you take your card/paper and stamp an image of your choice in clear embossing ink and powder.  I’m using the Versamark pad and clear embossing powder from Close to My Heart:

You heat it with your craft heater (not to be confused with your hair dryer!).

Once the embossing powder is melted, let it cool for a moment and then you can add ink to it.  In the video (post at the end of this post, you can see some different wants you can ink.  I’m going to show you a different one!  Take a craft mat and ink pads.  With your ink pads (or markers), ink the craft mat!  You can create a color pattern here.  Once you are done, spray the ink with water.

Take your embossed paper and lay it down on the wet ink and you’ll get a watercolor effect.  The embossing will prevent the color from adhering to the paper, showing white (or whatever your cardstock color is under the embossing).  This is a very easy technique which can create some beautiful art work!!

Let it dry.  I put it under one of my work pads so it would dry flat.  Once dry, I made the box:

I used the other piece as the top to completed my project, one of the “Whoo’s Your Valentine” treat tubes:

I’ll fill this cute little tube with Skittles to match the rainbow colors. Be sure to  get your “Whoo’s Your Valentine” kit here!!  Time is running short as well as the supplies.  We have less than 13% left!!!

Kids and Whoo’s…..

Well, I got brave over the weekend and did a “Whooo’s Your Valentine” workshop with 3 kids.  We did a simple version of the treat tubes.  The kids loved the stamping and gluing parts of the workshop.  We made 72 valentine treat tubes for them!!

The kids are looking forward to adding some sweet treats to them.  Don’t miss your chance to get this sweet deal with the cutest owl stamps!!

Stretching out

I follow Brenda Rose, a dear friend and wonderful paper artist, who led me to   Iwona “Chupa” Palamountain’s blog. The world is very small on the internet!  Chupa is another very talented paper artist. Chupa puts up sketch challenges.  While I’ve never joined or entered into her challenges, I do LOVE the creativity it sparks.

I made this card from our January SOM “Happy Valentine’s” in two different fashions.  One using the smaller roses (2 of them) and another using 1 larger rose.  I varied the ink for the sentiment.  I colored the roses in with our wonderful Alcohol Markers!  These will make great thank you notes!!  I used the Cricut AP to cut out the scalloped circle and the layer.
